Description:

Statement of Fitness for Work is to help to support people who become ill to return to work as quickly as possible, the DWP has reformed the medical statment (the sick note). the new statement is known as the `Statement of Fitness for Work` or the `fit note`, and came into effect on 6th April 2010. Changes to the format of the sick note enable doctors to indicate whether they believe their patient is `not fit for work` or `may be fit for work` Doctors can record further information about the functional effects of their patient`s condition so individuals and employers can consider simple changes to aid earlier return to work. It also means fewer forms for doctors and employers to deal with. More information can be found on the website.
