At Winston’s Wish we provide telephone support for bereaved children and young people up to the age of 18. We also support their parents or carers. Professionals may also ring in for support and discussion on how best to work with families in a particular situation, from anywhere in the UK. Whether the person was ill for some time or a death totally unexpected. We can work with children and families bereaved through illness, accident, suicide, murder or manslaughter. Also military death. Where appropriate, and if children live in our geographical boundaries, we work closely with children and families, in a variety of practical and creative ways, to create an atmosphere where they can share their thoughts and feelings and meet others. Where distance may prevents us offering a face-to-face service we typically can still provide telephone support via our Helpline, and send useful information.
